A collection of 45 delicious and tempting recipes for the keen young cook. The first section of the book guides your child through kitchen safety/hygiene and important basic knife skills. There is a useful conversion chart for oven temperatures and weighing/measuring. The recipes are divided into four chapters: Brunches & Lunches, Main Meals, Sweet Treats and Breads. Each recipe includes useful icons to alert kids and adults if they need to preheat an oven, if they will be handling hot food/utensils or if kids will require an adult's assistance. The main meals are based on healthy, fresh ingredients while the sweet treats are indulgent bakes and desserts that will tickle your taste buds! The layout is kept simple and the dishes are fun to create.
The author, Rosemary Matthews, is the founder of Kids' kitchen Cookery School in Northern Ireland and is a qualified Home Economics and Science teacher with over 17 years teaching experience with children. Her message is to encourage children to get into the kitchen and cook from an early age, to learn that cooking is an easy and enjoyable experience and to develop important kitchen skills that will set them up for life.
